Amee Wurzburg

Amee Wurzburg is the XX at PERIL. She has worked for more than a decade in global and domestic public health as a researcher, program designer, implementer, and evaluator specializing in violence prevention, gender equality, and sexual health and rights. Amee joined PERIL from USAID, where as a Gender Advisor she worked with teams in sub-Saharan Africa on integrating gender equality and gender-based violence prevention and response in HIV/AIDS programming across multiple countries. Her work includes leading the Youth Health and Well-Being portfolio at Peace Corps Headquarters, running a bystander intervention program for three years at UNC-Chapel Hill, and providing capacity building support to 28 school districts across the US on youth sexual health education. Her areas of interest include designing violence prevention programs, addressing health inequities and harmful gender and social norms, comprehensive sexuality education, translating research into practice and policy, and behavior change communication. Amee received her MPH from UNC-Chapel Hill and her BA in History from Barnard College of Columbia University.
