Senior Researcher

Victoria Gurevich

Dr. Victoria Gurevich is a Senior Researcher at the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab (PERIL) at American University. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from The Ohio State University, where her dissertation examined state-level decision-making on the repatriation of individuals affiliated with the Islamic State.

Her research investigates public attitudes toward ideologically motivated violence in the United States, with a particular focus on how perceptions and attitudes vary across different extremist motives. More broadly, her research interests are in radicalization, extremism, violence prevention, and post-conflict repatriation and rehabilitation.

Dr. Gurevich’s research draws on mixed-method approaches, including interviews, focus groups, and survey experiments. She is interested in connecting academic research with practical applications that promote community well-being and inform evidence-based strategies for violence prevention and resilience.
